A Brief Biography of Archbishop Paul Zingtung Grawng
He was born on March 20, 1938 in Lunghkat, Kachin State, Myanmar. He was ordained as the first Kachin priest on March 27, 1965. On January 24, 1976, he was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Myitkyina and Titular Bishop of Rusguniae. On April 3, 1976, he was ordained Titular Bishop of Rusguniae. Then, He was appointed Bishop of Myitkyina on December 9, 1976 at the age of 38. After many years of serving as a good shepherd, he was appointed Archbishop of Mandalay and was installed Archbishop of Mandalay on June 16, 2003. During his espicopate, he was twice president of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Myanmar and served in various commissions in the Federation of Asian Bishops Conferences. At the age of 76, he retired from his pastoral governance of Archdiocese of Mandalay on April 3, 2014. At the age of 82, he returned to Heavenly Home on October 24, 2020.
