History

A Brief History of A New Parish

St. Michael Parish is the second parish in the city of Myitkyina, specially created in 1.1. 2022 for Catholics who are not of Kachin ethnicity, culture or language. Many inhabitants of the city, who are not of the majority Kachin ethnicity, are very happy to have a new parish where they can pray, have catechesis, liturgies and a spiritual life in their own language. Therefore, Cardinal Charles Maung Bo, Apostolic Administrator of Myitkyina Diocese, entursted it to Myanmar Salesians with a 5-year contract. The new parish priest is Fr. Bosco Aung Zaw Win, SDB, who is also the rector of Don Bosco-Myitkyina Community.
